first day / 10:57:00 PM

do you still remember the night before your first day of school? probably had difficulty falling asleep, mourning about the start of school and wishing that the holidays were longer, or fearing that you cant wake up the next morning making it harder to fall asleep, thinking about whether you can still fit inti your school uniform after a month of holidays, thinking whether everything is packed for school, uniforms ironed and so on. the nerves, and the lack of sleep, waking up early again, homework, makes the eve of the first day a school a hard, sleepless one. not forgetting trips to Popular to get stationary, textbooks, assessment books (even before the term starts!), more stationary, new uniforms, school shoes, hair cut. i see more parents bringing their kids to Bata or whatever sports store to get their white shoes. white shoes no longer just come form Bata. Queues at Popular. I loved buying pens and pencils at Popular. I think the type of pens you have, the amount, the colors, or whether you use a Shaker Pencil or a G-Tec, its almost like a fashion statement. or changing your school bag every year. all these purchases, steps, signs that the first day of school is nearing.

i still have to think what to wear the next day. and psyche myself up for work especially after a long weekend. the immense sunday blues. it's almost like preparing for school, thinking what to wear for work, making sure that bag is packed and that the alarm is set. today's the first day back at work. and i couldnt sleep last night. somehow. its not like i had a month long holiday or that work comes in terms or semesters. it felt like i was experiencing first day jitters. funny.
