on friday as 530pm neared, most of us in the office were quickly shutting down our computers, or sending out last minute emails before we enjoyed the long weekend. everyone was in a jovial mood. 'have a good weekend!' most of them shouted, as they left the office. we have some foreign colleagues from other parts of the world. 'happy national day singapore!' they wished, as they stepped out of the office door. strange, i wondered. that we singaporeans were looking forward to the long weekend, and maybe not so important was that it was singapore's birthday weekend. still it is a long weekend. something working people definitely look forward to. to lie in bed, sleep all we want, watch so much tv and eat so much that i feel like i have swelled up from the inactivity. i haven been to a parade once. maybe next year if i;m lucky enough to get those free tickets. we tried this year but we didnt get them. dan says we should jsut go jb, though im not entirely enticed by the idea cos of the possible jams/queues/people/singaporeans in jb. its national day shouldnt we stay in singapore and watch the parade? 'who ask them to not give us free tickets,' he said. funny. happy birthday singapore! Labels: muse |
